Peter Feldstein (American, 1942 – 2017), made several photogravure prints at Galamander Press (NYC) in 1998. He created tiny, gestural 4 x 4 inch drawings on translucent film using ink and gesso. These drawings were used as negatives and enlarged to produce the photographic positives for the photogravure series. Evidence of crackling, blotting and the artist’s enlarged fingerprints can be seen in the prints.
Two of Feldstein’s prints from this series are included in the exhibition “Just Above Midtown: Changing Spaces” from October 9 2022 – February 18 2023 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the exhibition’s catalog.
