Very rare and early woodcut of Nell Dunn (author of ‘Up the Junction’ which had just appeared at the time this work was undertaken). This print work features in ‘Philip Sutton, Life and Work’ (RCA) p.47. The image is printed on a large sheet with wide margins. The sheet is in fine condition with deckled edges, slightly untidy in places along the edge. Signed, ttled and numbered by the artist. Philip Sutton’s first woodcuts date from the early 1950’s. Since that time he has created a number of fine works of art in this medium dealing with self-portraits, figure studies and nudes. All the blocks used for his woodcuts were cut directly from life.
