Pigmented cast epoxy resin
Dimensions given for one slice.
In his Graphicstudio collaboration, Paine has delivered a challenging work: Head Cheese, a sculptural meditation upon the visually arresting cold cut commonly available in grocery stores. After intensive research, Graphicstudio artisans devised a method for casting the piece: dozens of gallons of epoxy resin (“gelatin”) and hundreds of bits of colored and textured epoxy resin (“meat pieces”) are poured into a loaf mold and allowed to cure. The unique sculptural loaf is accompanied by two-inch thick Head Cheese slices. Head Cheese was displayed in November 2005 at the James Cohan Gallery in New York City.
