Created by Roy Lichtenstein as a self-mailing invitation to one of the artist’s earliest gallery exhibitions at Leo Castelli Gallery in 1963, Crying Girl , an early and iconic image, is an offset lithograph in colors that measures 17 x 23 inches (43 x 58.4 cm), unframed. From the unsigned, open edition as issued, its value is in finding this print in excellent condition with strong, rich colors. With printed invitation text (verso) and a cancelled USPS postal stamp, this highly collectible artwork is from the original printing and contains light folds consistent with its initial purpose and use. It was printed and published by Leo Castelli Gallery, New York and is designated as Corlett II.1 in the artist’s catalogue raisonne.
