History:

Roy Lichtenstein produced on commission the famed paper plate, for designer and Photographer Bert Stern for his New York boutique, Located on First Avenue at 61st in Manhattan, the shop was opened  with the idea of commissioning stylish-yet-inexpensive objects for the home and wardrobe from artists and fashion designers of its day. The store was ultimately short-lived – closing its doors after little more than a year – leaving most of these plates neither distributed, nor seen again, as such, examples of the work from 1969, signed by the artists are very rare.
