Samuel Prout, British, 1783-1852, Lithograph on light green paper.  From the Warrington estate, sold at Christie’s, 1998.  The Zwinger Palace was destroyed in WWII.

Prout was the teacher of Constable, Turner, and Ruskin and considered their equal in that era.  He was known as a foremost water colorist, particularly of architectural painting.  He was Watercolorist to both King George IV, and Queen Victoria.
