Abstract painter. Born 14 September 1925 in London. Studied at St Martin’s School of Art under Ruskin Spear 1941–6 and the R.A. Schools 1946–7; Accademia delle Belle Arte, Rome, 1947–8. Exhibited at the R.A. 1946–7. Travelled in Spain and France; returned to London 1950. First one-man show at Gimpel Fils 1951. Worked in Cornwall 1957–8. Joined the teaching staff of the R.C.A. in 1960. Awarded the Second Prize for Painting at the John Moores Liverpool Exhibition 1961.
