A portrait of a women surrounded by hibiscuses, produced in Munakata’s instantly recognisable style – this format of a woman looking into the distance, surrounded by text and flowers was an ongoing theme in Munakata’s prints. No doubt produced during Munakata’s 1959 travels to Europe where he delivered lectures at key universities, including in New York.
An exquisite lithograph produced on a very textural Japanese ‘washi’ paper, published by
Yaskawa as part of their collaborative calendar project.
