ヴェニス サンマルコ広場の柵
Venice’s famous San Marco piazza, perfectly captured in this lithograph, produced from a single layer woodblock print. The group of five people in the foreground seem to walk towards the viewer, whilst the flock of seagulls energetically fly around the scene. All of this beautifully backdropped with the arches of the piazza. No doubt produced during Munakata’s 1959 travels to Europe where he delivered lectures at key universities, including in New York.
An exquisite lithograph produced on a very textural Japanese ‘washi’ paper, published by
Yaskawa as part of their collaborative calendar project.
