‘Kelly’ (blue) is a new deep bite, colour viscosity etching, published by the Sidney Nolan Trust in 2021. The print is from a small number of plates made by Nolan whilst working at Atelier 17 in 1958 with the influential English printmaker Stanley Hayter. The plate was originally proofed by Nolan himself but no edition was ever made. This new print was proofed by Prof. David Ferry RE, using Arthur Boyd’s etching press which is owned by the Trust. The edition was printed by Peter Bennett, Master Printmaker at Atelier JL in London, using Nolan’s original paper stock. The print carries the Sidney Nolan Trust blind stamp and is available in both orange and blue colourways, reflecting Australian and European influence.
