“Clear statements that I approach with large, blurry brushstrokes.” Sophie von Hellermann

On its 75th birthday, the German constitution (Grundgesetz) is receiving a lot of positive attention. The artist Sophie von Hellermann (born 1975 in Munich, lives and works in London and Margate, UK) is dedicating two hand-colored lithograph series to it on the occasion. »DG75 A« shows the law book with its pages open. People are milling around in front of a wide sky, bathed in varying blue, yellow and green.

Current events as well as historical events and social processes are often the inspiration for von Hellermann’s work. Confident, quick, sketched with black outlines and fluidly colored with bright colors, which is typical of her concise, expressive painting style. Intuition, calculation and research are used in equal measure. A confident plea for our ‘Grundgesetz’.

The editions with a unique character were created as lithographs on handmade paper by Hahnemühle. Each copy is hand-colored by the artist and also hand-signed and numbered.
