This etching comes from the series ‘Eleven Poems by Federico Garcia Lorca’, described as “perhaps his most important suite of prints” by Dominic Kemp, the author of the catalogue raisonne of Frost prints. Frost began reading Lorca in the 1970s. ‘‘Lorca is so simple, and so direct, and so full of colour and ideas. I was so much in love with the poetry”.
The Lorca suite was produced in an edition of seventy-five plus fifteen artist’s copies. I am selling the fifth of ten artist’s proofs. The fourth is in the Tate Britain collection.
Etching and aquatint with hand colour, printed in colours to the sheet edges, on Somerset Satin paper.
Framed size: 65.0 x 47.0 cm. Framed, glazed and float-mounted in a light wood frame, using conservation materials.
