The work of Thomas McKean, a native New Yorker, often focuses on New York City, its buildings, people, streets, cars, and signs. Best known for his MetroCard series, McKean works in a variety of media, including collage, mosaics, constructions, and drawing.
McKean has exhibited at the Ground Floor Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; RH Gallery NY, NY; Augusta Savage Gallery, Amherst, Massachusetts; Wm Turner Gallery, Atlanta, Georgia; and LMAK Projects, NY, NY. His illustrations have appeared in The Nation and Bon Appetit and his collages have been featured in The Subway Art Blog and The Huffington Post.
