Thomas Schönauer (1953) is a Düsseldorf artist with an international reputation. His works and sculptures can be found in collections and public places around the world.
His brilliant sculptures, which often measure several meters in height, are characterized by imposingness and at the same time visual lightness, as they are statically impressively balanced. Thomas Schönauer’s sculptural works are often in situ works, i.e. works that are created and designed in relation to a specific environment. They then relate directly to the location in which they are later installed, a specific interior space, a park, etc.
Thomas Schönauer is also well known for his series of CT Paintings. The artist works with a painting technique that he developed himself. He succeeds in creating a high-gloss surface for his paintings, which produce an impressive 3D effect.
