Ilse Schreiber-Noll, born in Germany, studied at the University of Marburg, Germany, then came to the United States and studied at Purchase College, SUNY, NY from which she received her Masters in Fine Art in 1989.Her art deals with the concerns of society and the fight for peace and social justice with emphasis on the tragedy of war. These issues are addressed in her powerful installations, woodcuts, paintings and painted books. She has participated in several major political movements, most recently in Marc di Suvero’s Peace Tower at the Whitney Biennial, Whitney Museum New York, 2006, and in solo and group exhibitions in Berlin between 2005 – 2009, in Bochum, Germany 2007, at the Van Brunt Gallery, Beacon, New York 2007, The Puffin Room and Central Booking, New York, NY, 2010 and in others upcoming this year, 2011.
