The artist writes: “The largest of my mezzotints to date. This is drawn from a painting in oils completed for a Compass Gallery exhibition in 2023. The painting was taken from sketches made on two crossings to Achnacroish on Lismore from Oban on the Loch Striven, an older ro-ro ferry with no cover on the upper deck. Sailing later in the day in winter can offer remarkable panoramas of sea, sky and land, in this case Mull, Lismore and a group of offshore islands, Eilean Na Cloiche. The largest Mezzotint was a bit daunting, but the challenge is important.”

Notes from the artist’s sketchbook: 04/10/22 / 09/11/22 on MV Loch Striven returning to Oban. 3:30 PM, Bright sun, turbulent cloud, 9/11 very rough.

£375.00
