Julie Shapiro works between painting, drawing, printmaking and constructing with paper. She delights in the ongoing rapport between media. She received her BA in art from UC Santa Cruz and an MFA in painting/printmaking from Yale School of Art and attended Yale Summer School of Art, Norfolk, CT.
Her art has been shown in numerous galleries including the Carrie Chen Gallery (Great Barrington, MA), Elizabeth Harris Gallery (NYC,) Francine Seders Gallery (Seattle), Pollock Gallery (SMU), Lenore Gray Gallery (Providence, RI), The Painting Center (NYC), Weatherspoon Museum, Condeso/Lawler Gallery, Drawing Center (NYC), The Brooklyn Museum, Six Depot in West Stockbridge, and Knox Gallery (Monterey, MA). Shapiro received a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant and Martha Boschen Porter Fund grant as well as fellowships at VCCA and Yaddo.
