Linoleum cut on thin laid paper. From a small edition. Signed in pencil.

Sailing is in fine condition, printed with bold, deep black ink. From the Print Collector’s Quarterly, Volume XIX, No.4, p.64-165, in an article by Efram Burke: “The print conveys a dramatic interplay of light and dark patterns, shifting movements, and the energy and force of nature translated through a direct and forceful cutting of the image in the linoleum block.” The setting is Stonington, Maine.

William Zorach

William Zorach was a Lithuanian-born American sculptor, painter, printmaker, and writer. He won the Logan Medal of the arts. He is notable for being at the forefront of American Artists embracing cubism, as well as for his sculpture.
