Catherine Howe’s “Wallflower” monotypes are made using acrylic inks on black, acid free Curious Metallics 300 gsm. paper. The surface of the paper imparts a subtle shimmer which contrasts interestingly with the matte finish of the inks. As with much of Howe’s work, the wildly gestural image of a flower hovers on the edge of complete abstraction.
