Yoshitomo Nara and Hiroshi Sugito are major forces in the Japanese contemporary art scene. Sugito, a former student of Nara’s, completed the first of their joint works in 1997. In the present work, Omaha, a child with Nara’s characteristic large, expressive eyes holds up a model of a house attached to a balloon. The fine lines and delicate aspects are reminiscent of Sugito’s style.
