Emanuel von Baeyer London was founded in 1998 and has since been firmly established as a leading representative of his generation of old master dealers. Emanuel von Baeyer deals principally in fine European drawings, prints and paintings from the fifteenth through the twentieth century, but also handles select post-war and contemporary art, showing interest in both established and emerging artists.

Emanuel von Baeyer works with a broad range of paintings, drawings and prints, all of which are of the highest quality and often rare and distinguished examples. Areas of particular interest are: the School of Fontainebleau, 17th and 18th century Italian prints, the Prague court of Rudolph II and his artistic circle and German 17th century art. Interest in this fuelled work on the ‘Expressive Baroque’ period, a Central-European movement of the first half of the 18th century, in particular the prints and drawings and paintings. Recently French 17th and 18th century art has been a central focus, as well as British art from the same period. German 19th century culture continues to fascinate as it was constantly evolving and embracing movements such as early Romanticism, the Nazarenes, Biedermeier and Naturalism. Well-known names from these areas are represented alongside contemporaneous works from the French Romantics, Impressionists and fin-de-siècle artists.

Emanuel von Baeyer regularly participates in the London Original Print Fair, Frieze Masters London, IFPDA Print Fair New York, Antiquarian Booksellers Associations (ABA), and TEFAF, Maastricht. He is also a member of the International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA) and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB).

Emanuel von Baeyer conducts his business from his premises in St Johns Wood, London, where he is always glad to receive visitors by appointment. In 2024 he opened an exhibition space at 18 Cecil Court in central London which hosts regular group and solo exhibitions as well as events. His clientele includes older and younger generations of private collectors, art historians and museum curators from institutions around the world. He is now widely recognized as an innovative dealer within his field and has published numerous specialist sales catalogues. His activities are regularly featured in the international press. He has provided expert opinion for private individuals and for legal purposes, and is happy to act on a client’s behalf on purchases and other matters. The company is sensitive to the issue of restitution and its implications.
