Lines – a guest curated on-line print exhibition
We are delighted to have Christopher-Clark Fine Art as guest curator.
“As I was searching through the images, I picked the works that really appealed to me, then laid them out and looked for a connection. With the assistance of my amazing gallery intern, Noemi Szyller, we noticed that other than the obvious similarities in tones and colors, they all drew different variations of line. Lines create movement, tension, harmony, chaos, borders, horizon, trap, flow, language therefore story, narrative, record, negative/positive space, shadows, light, shapes. Some of these chosen works are abstract, but many others are composed of defined lines which create a specific image or figure, a narrative. A seemingly simple line also has the power to evoke an emotional response, whether it was a “sea of calm” with Sugimoto’s elegant horizon, or a bit of anxiety and tension with Tara Donovan’s repetitive rubber bands and Hartung’s thrashing lines.” Jennifer McCloskey, Christopher-Clark Fine Art
